Presteigne is a charming little town in Powys, Wales, that sits on the border with England. It is the perfect place for a self-catered getaway as it is steeped in history, so there is always plenty to see and do.

Presteigne is also somewhat of a cultural centre; why not book your holiday to coincide with one of the two indigenous festivals the town has to offer? First is the fantastically named Sheep Festival; despite sounding like an agricultural event, it is actually a contemporary music festival. Then there is the highly respected Presteigne Festival of Music and the Arts, which brings in visitors from all over and attracts big names in the world of classical music and other arts. The town also has an award-winning museum called The Judge’s Lodging, a former courthouse where you can still visit the cells and basement if you are feeling brave!

Presteigne, once voted one of Britain’s top 10 little towns, sits on the beautiful River Lugg and is home to a thriving community of 3,000 people. You’ll be surrounded by part-Victorian, part-medieval architecture as you stroll its streets, soaking up its unique atmosphere.
