Swanage, in Dorset, is perhaps one of the prettiest places to visit on the South Coast and is perfect for a short break or holiday in a cottage.

Swanage has some beautiful beaches and stunning white cliffs. It lies towards the end of the famous Jurassic Coast, and is a very popular destination for both country and coastal walks. Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove are nearby, and are fantastic places to visit on a sunny day. The water in Lulworth Cove can look turquoise and it can rival the Mediterranean on some days. Durdle Door is famous for being a photographers hot spot with its amazing scenery and unusual rock formation.

Corfe Castle, a ruined medieval castle, is one of the main visitor attractions in Swanage and makes a great day out for adults and families alike.

For cycling try the Sika Cycling trail in Wareham Forest which is safe for children too, perhaps stopping off for a picnic and spotting some of the local wildlife. Other fun days out nearby, include The Tank Museum and Monkey World, both of which have something of interest for children and adults of all ages.
