Truro, the only city in Cornwall, is an ideal base for exploring Cornwall. Truro itself has many attractions for the visitor, and there are comfortable holiday rentals in and outside the city. Many rentals come with relaxing river views, and there are family-friendly cottages to rent too.

Truro is most famous for its Gothic Cathedral. The area around the cathedral has many independent shops and some good places to sample local foods. The city was once a river port, and along the river you can see picturesque 18th and 19th century townhouses. Boat trips are available along the river, and there are nice riverside walks.

Truro has many art galleries and a busy cultural life with festivals around the year. The city hosts weekly farmers’ markets where you can shop for local products and try freshly baked bread, homemade cheese or Cornish pasties. Good destinations for daytrips around Truro include Falmouth and the beautiful Trelissick Gardens, and the Eden Project is just a drive away.
