“Are we there yet?” and you haven’t even left the drive.
Don’t worry, you are not alone! With the takeover of technology, apps for children seem a fantastic source of entertainment for those on-the-go moments. Now is not the time to adhere to your “no more than 30 minutes of TV a day” rule as a journey that takes one hour can seem a lifetime without a source of distraction for those little ones.
HolidayCottage have dived into the world of mobile technology and selected five of the best apps for all ages available so you’re prepared for that disturbing journey.
123 Color HD – Ages 3-8
Let your child’s inner Picasso shine with 123 Color! 123 Color contains over 400 pages of fun pictures just waiting for your little one to splash with virtual paint. Not only is it unleashing their inner artist but the app also teaches shapes, spelling and 13 languages including French, German and Italian. Guaranteed to keep them quiet and only £2.49. Available for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.
Little Fox Music Box – Ages 2-6
Recommended by The Telegraph and the Guardian, Little Fox Music Box is a beautifully illustrated music based game adored by children of many ages. This app is a loud one so be prepared! With many popular children’s songs including London Bridge and Old McDonald, Little Fox Music Box allows kids to record their own songs with over 100 interactive elements and sounds. Some scenes even last 30 minutes; that should keep them quiet for a while! A bargain for £1.99. Available for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.
Minecraft – Ages 7+
Craft, create and explore the world of blocks in this great universal app. If your child loves creativity, then this is definitely the game for them! This app is a little pricey at £4.99 but really will keep the kids occupied for hours. Available for iPad and iPhone.
Looney Tunes Dash! – Ages 9+
A personal favourite of ours! Bugs Bunny, Road Runner and Tweety Bird are back and ready to charge in this enjoyable level based game. Complete level objectives and unlock new characters as the game progresses but bare in mind there is mild fantasy/cartoon violence hence why its great for 9+ years. And the best bit? Its free! This app is educational, fun and rewarding. This educational app consists of 7 different mini games that teach kids counting, shapes, letters and loads more and all in the company of a loveable monkey!
