Just a short stroll from the cottage, which is in the west end of Wolsingham, is the River Wear and the park which makes this a prime location with many walks in the area.

A short drive away there are many exciting places to visit from this cottage including Hamsterley Forest, Auckland Castle, Kynren, Killhope Lead Mining Museum and of course a trip on the Weardale railway is a must.
To the north of the cottage is the city of Durham and for a day trip, why not drive along the Northumberland coast, and visit Middleton-in-Teesdale and the North Yorkshire Moors.
